Bihar State pharmacy Council is a statutory body constituted by the Government of Bihar under the provisions of the Pharmacy Act of 1948 The Council consists of 6 members elected by Registered Pharmacists amongst themselves, five members nominated by Government of Bihar, one member elected by Medical Council of INDIA and three Ex-Officio Members
The main objective of the Bihar Pharmacy Council is to regulate the profession of pharmacy in the state of BIHAR.The prime function of the Bihar Pharmacy Council is to grant registration to the eligible pharmacists possessing requisite qualification as per the provisions of section 32(2) of the Pharmacy Act and to enforce the necessary provisions of the Pharmacy Act 1948
In addition to the main function of registration, the Council has expanded its activities into the following areas: Recognizing the growing need of up-to-date drug information by the public and healthcare professionals, the Council has started Drug Information Center in collaboration with the Director of Drugs Control Department.
The Council is regularly conducting Refresher Courses to the working Registered Pharmacists to update their knowledge and to have update drug information to enable them to serve better to the community.
